If only we all just had naturally beautiful skin with little-to-no effort. Unfortunately, that’s not the case for some of us. Our skin requires constant care, evaluation, and changing up of our skincare routines to keep up with its ever-changing needs. The good news, however, is that there are ways that we can help improve the look and feel of our skin and make it as easy as possible to give it the care it needs. Ready to get started with some easy tips?
Many apply sunscreen when they go to the beach or just go out any summer day, but we’re actually supposed to wear it every day of the year including on cloudy days and during the cold months. It’s also important to apply it at least 30-minutes before we leave the house and every couple of hours throughout the day. Not only could sunscreen help protect your skin from premature aging, but it can also reduce the risk of sunburn and even possibly skin cancer.
Get enough sleep
We know that sleep is great for the skin (and body overall), but unfortunately, as we’re all busy adults, getting the 7-9 hours of recommended sleep and having it be good quality doesn’t always happen as we would like. One way to help increase the chances of that happening is to create an environment that will help promote good sleep, such as by installing blackout shades, using a sleep mask, and having your room at the right temperature. It’s also important to try to go to bed and get up the same time every day.
Remove your makeup before bed
We get it, it’s the end of a long day and you’re exhausted and just want to get to sleep already. However, you still have to take your makeup off. Leaving it on could cause a whole host of issues ranging from clogged pores to preventing your night cream from working effectively. As tempting as it may be to crawl into bed first, taking your makeup off is worth the effort.
Taking care of your skin really starts from the inside-out. Your diet doesn’t just have an effect on how your skin looks and feels, but on your body overall. Load up on healthy foods such as grilled chicken, fish, fruits, and veggies and forgo junk food, alcohol, caffeine, and processed foods as much as possible. Don’t forget to drink at least 8 8-ounce glasses of water a day!
The absolute best advice for naturally beautiful skin? See your dermatologist. Other than you, no one knows your skin better which means they’re the perfect person to talk to in order to find out what you should and shouldn’t be doing in an effort to have the skin you desire. It’s also a good opportunity for the doctor to notice any skin issues before they get too advanced, so if you haven’t seen your dermatologist in awhile, there’s no better time than now to schedule an appointment.
