Spring will be here before you know it which means it’s time to let go of some of the heavy body creams and clothing layers and lighten up a bit. A new season on the way means talking about tips to help you make sure you keep your skin looking as fabulous as possible. Before the birds start chirping and the flowers pop up, check out the following spring skin care tips so you’ll be all ready once spring makes an appearance.
Spring Clean Your Beauty Products
Spring cleaning shouldn’t just pertain to your clothes and closets; you should also go through your beauty products as well. Clean out everything that’s past its expiration date, that’s broken beyond use, that’s dried up, or that has a strange smell. For example, sunscreen can typically last about three years although most bottles will have an expiration date on them (which you should adhere to), and liquid water-based foundation will last about a year before it needs to be tossed. Make sure you also thoroughly clean all your makeup brushes and sponges.
Switch Out Your Face Creams
While it’s best to use a day cream and a night cream year-round, once the weather warms up, you should switch to ones that are lighter. When temperatures go up, creams you would normally wear during winter can feel way too heavy on your skin, made even worse during extremely warm days when they can feel as though they’re melting off your face. Lighter creams are a much more comfortable option during the spring and summer.
Play Around With New Blush Colors
The new spring blush palettes are absolutely lovely, so take the opportunity to try out different colors of blush and see what works best for you. You may want to give cream blushes a try as they tend to look really natural. They can be a bit difficult to apply, so you may want to do some test runs before you decide to sport them for work, a date, or an important event.
Ideally, you should be wearing sunscreen year-round, but there are many who only start to wear it once the temperatures start heating up and they head outdoors more often. If this sounds vaguely familiar and you haven’t applied sunscreen once since the summer (unless you went on vacation, of course), then the sooner you slather it on the better. An even better idea is to get a moisturizer and a body lotion that are already packed with SPF. To reapply sunscreen during the day, there are several travel versions that will fit right in your purse.
Rejuvenate Your Skin
One of the best ways to get your skin in tip-top shape after the beating it took all winter is to rejuvenate your skin from your head to your feet. This can include getting (or doing at home) a facial, a pedicure and manicure, a massage, exfoliating your body, etc. You can even do a deep condition treatment on your hair. A little pampering can go a long way. Go ahead, you and your skin deserve it!
Now is the perfect time to start doing research to see what brands and products would be best for you and your particular skin type before the warmer weather rolls around. Once the temps heat up, you’ll be all set with fabulous skin that doesn’t look like it was battling the cold all winter.
