Being Nice Makes You Pretty

There are a lot of benefits to being nice, one of which is that it may make you appear to be even prettier than you already are. For example, have you ever seen someone who was quite attractive – and then they opened their mouth and all these awful comments came out? Suddenly they’re not as attractive as they once seemed. When you’re nice, you make other people feel good. In the process, it can make you feel happy, and happiness tends to radiate from within and make you even more attractive. Doesn’t sound so bad, does it? With that said, let’s talk about some of the simple ways that you can be nicer on a daily basis.

Show Good Manners
Good manners aren’t always so easy to come across nowadays, but that doesn’t mean you have to give up on them. Rather, you can go out of your way to showcase that they still exist. For example, you can hold the door open for the person coming up behind you, say “please,” “thank you,” and “excuse me,” write thank you notes, and bring a hostess gift when you’re invited to someone’s home.

Surprise People

Don’t tell someone you’re going to surprise them, consider just going ahead and doing it. Maybe you can send someone flowers at their job or bring over their favorite snack that they haven’t had in awhile. Being nice doesn’t have to require a lot of money, sometimes it’s just a small gesture to show someone you’re thinking about them.

Listen When People Speak to You
People like feeling valued and one of the best ways to get them to feel that way is by listening to them when they talk to you. There’s a huge difference between hearing what someone is saying and actually listening to it. When you take the time to listen to someone, you’re soaking in all that they’re saying and you’re not preoccupied waiting to jump in to say what you’re thinking. Nice people actually listen to those around them.

Do Random Acts of Kindness
One of the best things about random acts of kindness is that you can help completely change someone’s day – and your own – and it doesn’t even have to cost more than a few dollars. For example, you can buy someone coffee in line behind you or put a few dollars and a note in the toy section of a store. Even if someone doesn’t know that you’re the one who did the random act of kindness, that energy of being a nice person and doing something good for someone else can radiate from you.

Volunteers are pretty amazing. They selflessly give up their time to help someone else and they expect nothing else in return but to put some good out into the universe. That’s a really wonderful thing to do whether you get credit or not.

Cheer Someone Up
Let’s face it, this world isn’t always the kindest of places. It can knock us down in a heartbeat, but that’s where nice, good people come in. When you go out of your way to cheer someone up, whether it’s just asking them how they’re feeling and genuinely caring about the answer, giving them a little surprise, or something else entirely, it can make a huge difference. People need to know that they have at least one person who cares about them.

Being nice doesn’t actually have to cost a thing, but what it can do is put you in a positive light in the eyes of others. Sure, being nice may make you even prettier, but even more importantly you’re helping someone else feel good even if it’s just via a passing smile. Consider trying to be even nicer than you already are and see how much your world changes.
