When we can’t get away for several days, taking a little weekend trip can still be a refreshing and rejuvenating option. Chances are you’re only bringing a rather small bag which means you’re going to have to condense as much as possible, so when it comes to beauty products, what should you bring and what can you leave at home?
Dry shampoo can be a lifesaver so your hair doesn’t look greasy, and rather than pack a full-size product, there are several that come in travel size so it won’t take up that much space. Use a little and you’re good to go. Depending on your hair, you might not even need to take regular shampoo and conditioner with you if you’re just going for the weekend.
An absolute must to use on a daily basis, sunscreen is essential for helping to protect your skin. Take enough with you so that you can apply it all weekend without fail—including before you leave for the day and every couple of hours throughout the day—but have it be a small enough container that it won’t take up too much space in your bag.
You certainly don’t want to go without moisturizer considering it could result in skin that looks and feels dry and flaky, not to mention it might start getting itchy. Keep in mind that the best time to put on moisturizer is when your skin is damp, such as after you wash your face or after a shower.
Using facial wipes can be fantastic not just for removing your makeup, but also for just wiping your face down throughout the day if need be. They come in rather small packs so they’re easy to take with you over the weekend.
Even though you’re only going away for a weekend, you never know if you’re going to need a shaving razor, so you’re better off bringing yours rather than relying on getting one where you’re staying. Don’t forget to put it in a case so you don’t inadvertently cut your hand when you go to grab it out of your bag, and also so the razor itself won’t get damaged.
When you’re going away for the weekend and you want to pack light, opt to bring only your makeup essentials. For example, bring a BB cream, mascara, concealer, and one or two lipsticks. It’s also a good idea to bring an SPF lip balm especially if you’re going to be outdoors quite a bit.
If you’re looking to pack light for the weekend, one of the best things you can do is downsize some of your full-size products by putting them in clear plastic travel-sized containers. For products that already come in sample sizes, such as a toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant, etc, those can easily be obtained at many stores. Put all your beauty products in one case that can fit in your weekend bag so everything stays organized and also so—if one happens to break—it won’t get all over your clothes.
