All About Cellulite

Cross section of normal skin versus cellulite skin

Cellulite is something that affects many women, and even men, throughout their lives. For many, it’s an embarrassing topic to discuss for many people, and it can be difficult to feel attractive when you know it’s there. Hiding your legs and stomach by covering up becomes a commonplace thing, and self-confidence is affected. Vine Vera discusses what cellulite is, and what can be done about it.

What is Cellulite?

Cellulite is the visible buildup of fat under the skin that pushes against the underlying tissue, causing the appearance of dimples to form in the skin. Contrary to popular belief, cellulite isn’t partial to overweight people; it can even affect people with a thin build.

Some of the causes of cellulite are as follows:

  • Weight
  • Lack of activity
  • Sedentary lifestyle
  • Diet
  • Family History/Genetics
  • Dehydration
  • Thickness of the skin

It seems that cellulite occurs far less often in those with darker skin tones. Although unsightly, there are things you can do to rid some if not all of your cellulite dilemmas.

What can be Done about Cellulite?

Exercise is major. Incorporating more fitness into your daily life will not only give you an all-over good feeling, keep you healthy, and give you more energy, but it will also diminish the buildup of fat underneath the skin. When these pockets of fat are diminished, there is less likelihood that you will be plagued by cellulite.

Drinking more water every day is also important. You need 8-10 glasses per day. If you are trying to get rid of cellulite, try incorporating a little bit more, if you can.

Try changing your diet. Eat less processed, fatty, and sugary foods, and more natural, raw, and healthy foods.

There are treatments available which you can do from home, or you can attend a clinic or spa which specializes in these treatments.

Treatment Options

One of the easiest treatment options that many celebrity women swear by is simple coffee grounds. You simply take your coffee grounds (used) from this morning’s coffee, and use them in the shower as a scrub on the areas where you find the cellulite.

There are various creams in which you are able to purchase and apply to diminish the cellulite. In conjunction with exercise, this is one of the best things you can do for the cellulite itself.

Aside from these options, there are medicated creams and gels in which you can get prescriptions for from your dermatologist.

There are wrap treatments, which are done at spas and although they can be expensive, are very worth it. They tend to work really well while offering you a relaxing experience.

Many companies have claimed they have developed a method to treating and even curing cellulite, but this may not be entirely true. You need to be careful what you buy, who you buy from, and take care not to be fooled by scam products.

Find the Treatment Option that’s Right for You

There are many options available for you to test out and try. By being proactive, you are always halfway to healing a fixable problem. Finding something that works for you and sticking with it will provide you with the confidence you’ve lost all over again.
